Sharing Part of a Document Without Sending All of It

You need page 27, the signature page, and the file is a 30 page agreement stuffed with terms the recipient has no business rereading. Sharing part of a document used to mean printing one sheet and rescanning it. With the Extract PDF Pages tool it's a click on a thumbnail: the page lights up green, the button builds a fresh PDF from your selection, and the full agreement never leaves your machine. Sharing part of a document by extracting just those pages

Send the sheet, keep the file.

The signature page scenario is everywhere: counsel wants proof of execution, not another copy of the indemnification terms. Sometimes it's one clause from a contract that a vendor needs to review without seeing the pricing schedule two pages over. Sometimes it's a single chart from a 60 page study, headed for a slide deck.

In each case the constraint is the same. The recipient should get exactly the relevant pages, the master file should stay intact, and ideally the full document shouldn't be uploaded to some service just to peel one sheet off it.

Picking pages to extract from the thumbnail grid

Green means it makes the cut.

Upload the file and its pages render as thumbnails, four per row. Click a page and a green overlay with a Keep badge appears; click again to release it. The header counts your selection, Select all and Clear handle sweeping changes, and the action button states its intent plainly, Extract 2 pages.

The output downloads as yourfile-extracted.pdf. Selected pages arrive in document order regardless of the order you clicked them, and each page carries its stored rotation along, so a wide exhibit keeps its horizontal orientation. Everything runs on pdf-lib inside the browser tab, which is what makes it reasonable to do this with a confidential agreement in the first place.

One click, one page, one attachment.

The file is services-agreement.pdf, 30 pages, executed yesterday. Scroll the grid to page 27, the signature block with both parties' ink. Click it, watch the Keep badge land, and confirm the button reads Extract 1 page.

The download is services-agreement-extracted.pdf containing exactly that page. Need the notary acknowledgment on page 28 as well? Click both, in either order, and the two page output still places 27 before 28. The source agreement remains complete and untouched, ready for the records system.

Extract vs split, extract vs delete

Three tools, three mental models.

Extract vs split comes down to how you describe the pages you want. Split PDF takes typed ranges and returns a ZIP with a file per range, built for carving a document into sections. Extraction takes clicked thumbnails and returns one PDF, built for cherry-picking. Ranges for structure, clicks for judgment calls.

Against deletion, the difference is direction. Delete PDF Pages thinks in a remove list, where every page you flag disappears from the copy, while this tool thinks in a keep list, where every page you flag is the only thing that survives. Grabbing 2 pages of 30? Extract. Discarding 2 of 30? Delete. Same outcome is reachable either way, but one of them is 26 fewer clicks.

Extraction mistakes worth a second look

Mostly about picking the wrong page.

A short list covers nearly every extraction that goes sideways:

Grabbing the unsigned twin. Scanned agreements often contain both the blank signature page and the executed one; verify ink is visible in the thumbnail before clicking.
Trusting printed numbers. A cover sheet shifts everything, so the sheet stamped 27 may be thumbnail 28. Go by what the thumbnail shows.
Expecting navigation to survive. Links and references aimed at pages you didn't select point at nothing in the output, and bookmark outlines don't come across at all.
Leaving Select all on from a previous idea and mailing the entire agreement anyway. The button's page count is your last line of defense; read it.

Habits for cleaner page extraction

Two small ones, both cheap.

Before pressing the button, make the count in its label match the number you're holding in your head. Extract 1 page when you meant one page is confirmation; Extract 14 pages when you meant one is a caught mistake.

After downloading, open the -extracted file once before attaching it anywhere. You're checking that the right page made it and that nothing extra tagged along. And when several recipients need the same page over time, extract once and file the single page PDF next to the master, rather than re-extracting from scratch each request.
