How big is the recommended pinterest pin size?

Why do wide images perform poorly as pins?
The Pinterest grid assigns every pin the same column width, so a horizontal image renders short and small while vertical neighbors tower over it. Height is visibility. Converting a 1920x1080 hero into a 1000x1500 crop changes how often the pin gets seen at all.
How long can a long pin be before Pinterest cuts it off?
The feed truncates pins taller than a 1:2.1 ratio, which is why the Long preset stops at 1000x2100. Go taller and users see a cropped version with the bottom hidden until they open the pin.
Are Idea Pin dimensions included in the pinterest image resizer presets?
