URL Shortener

Long tracking URLs look terrible on a slide and are impossible to type from a poster. This url shortener takes any long address and turns it into a compact link hosted on our own domain, stored server side so it redirects the moment someone clicks. Paste the address, press Shorten, and you get the short link with a copy button plus a scannable QR code rendered right beside it, handy when the destination is headed for print. You can shorten url free with no account, and because it's a self-hosted short link generator rather than a third-party service, there's no ad interstitial standing between your reader and the page you actually want them to reach.

How to use

01

Paste the long URL

Drop the full address, query string and all, into the Long URL field. Press Enter or click Shorten and the tool generates and stores your link in a second or two.

02

Copy the short address

The short URL appears in a highlighted card with a one-click copy button. Underneath, the tool confirms exactly which destination it redirects to, so verify it before sharing.

03

Grab the QR code

A QR code for the short link is drawn automatically next to the result. Scan it with a phone to test the redirect end to end before it goes anywhere public.

Why URL Shortener

Common questions

How does the url shortener store my links?
Each link is saved in a database on our server, mapping the generated slug to your original URL. When someone opens the short address, the server looks up the slug and redirects them. If storage is temporarily unavailable you'll see a warning that the generated link won't redirect, so nothing fails silently.
Can I pick a custom slug for my short link?
Not currently. The slug is generated automatically when you click Shorten, which keeps links compact and collision free. If you need branded, human readable paths, a redirect rule on your own domain is the better fit; this tool is built for speed over customization.
Will a shortened url made here expire after a while?
There's no expiry timer on links you create. That said, every short link anywhere only works as long as the service hosting it does, which is exactly what happened when Google retired goo.gl. For anything printed or long lived, keep a record of the original destination alongside the short version.
Does the short link generator add tracking parameters to my URL?
No. The redirect points at exactly the address you entered, shown under Redirects to in the result, with nothing appended. If you want campaign tracking, add your own UTM parameters to the long URL before shortening it, since the destination can't be edited afterward.
Why did I get a warning that my short link won't redirect?
That appears when the link couldn't be written to the database, usually a temporary storage outage on our side. The short address shown was generated locally and won't resolve for visitors. Wait a moment and click Shorten again to create a properly stored link.
Is it really possible to shorten url free with no signup here?
Yes, the whole tool is free and anonymous. There's no account, no dashboard to log into, and no limit that pushes you toward a paid tier. Paste, shorten, copy, done.
How big is the QR code the url shortener generates?
It's rendered at 200 pixels square, which scans reliably from a screen and works for casual sharing. For print jobs like posters or packaging, generate a higher resolution version of the same short link with the QR Code Generator so it survives scaling and lower quality printing.
