Common questions
Can I edit screenshot free of charge, without an account?
Yes. The editor is free, has no sign-up, and never uploads your capture because everything renders on a canvas element in your browser. You can edit screenshot free as many times as you like, and the exported PNG carries no watermark.
Is the blur in this screenshot editor reversible?
No. The blur is baked into the exported pixels at a 14 pixel radius, which isn't recoverable in practice. That said, for high-value secrets like API keys or passwords, use Redact instead: it replaces the region with solid black, so there's nothing to reconstruct.
How do I paste a screenshot instead of uploading a file?
Capture with Win+Shift+S on Windows or Cmd+Shift+4 on macOS, then press Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V) anywhere on this page. The clipboard image drops onto the canvas immediately. It also works with any image you right-click and copy from another app.
What resolution does the annotated screenshot export at?
The canvas exports at your capture's original pixel size plus whatever padding you added, so a 1366x768 screenshot with 48 pixels of padding becomes a 1462x864 PNG. Nothing gets downscaled. The OG preset changes the canvas proportions to 1200:630 without shrinking the screenshot inside it.
Does the screenshot editor draw arrows or text labels?
Not currently. It focuses on framing (background, padding, radius, shadow), canvas ratios, and privacy regions. If you need a text label on the image, run the exported PNG through the Add Text to Image tool, which overlays captions at any of nine positions.
Why redact a screenshot instead of blurring it?
Blur keeps the layout readable while hiding content, which looks nicer in docs. Redact draws an opaque black box, which is the safer call for credentials, tokens, or anything a determined person might try to recover. A good rule: blur faces and emails, redact secrets.
Does my screenshot get uploaded while I annotate it?
No. The file never leaves your machine; loading, styling, blurring, and exporting all happen in local browser memory. That's also why the Copy button works offline once the page has loaded.
