Split PDF

A 200 page board pack is easier to distribute as five section files than as one giant attachment. That's the job of this split pdf tool. Upload the document, type page ranges like 1-8, 9-42, 43-97 into the Ranges field, and download a ZIP with one PDF per range. Or switch the mode to Every page separately and get each sheet as its own file. The work happens locally, so you can split pdf online without the document ever touching a server. Finance teams use it on board packs, lawyers on discovery bundles, students on lecture note collections. When you need to split pdf into multiple files on a deadline, the whole round trip takes under a minute.

How to use

01

Upload the PDF

Drop a single file of up to 100 MB on the upload area. The tool reads it and shows the filename with its page count, plus a four column preview of every page.

02

Pick a mode

Choose Custom ranges and type comma separated groups such as 1-3, 5, 7-10, or select Every page separately to turn each page into its own PDF.

03

Download the ZIP

Click Split & download ZIP. Each range becomes a file named split-1.pdf, split-2.pdf, and so on, packed into an archive named after your original document.

Why Split PDF

Common questions

How do page ranges work when splitting a PDF?
Separate each group with a comma. Write 1-3 for a run of pages and a bare 5 for a single page, so 1-3, 5, 7-10 produces three output files. Numbers beyond the document's page count are ignored rather than raising an error.
Can one page appear in two of the split files?
Yes, ranges are independent, so 1-10 and 5-15 both include pages 5 through 10 and each output gets its own copy. That's handy when a summary page belongs in every section. Nothing is removed from the source, so overlap costs you nothing.
What does the ZIP from a split contain?
One PDF per range, numbered in the order you typed them, inside an archive named yourfile-split.zip. If you chose Every page separately, the ZIP holds a file for each page, which is the fastest way to separate pdf pages for archiving or stamping.
Is the splitting done on my computer or on a server?
On your computer. The document is parsed with pdf-lib inside the browser tab and the ZIP is built there too, so a confidential board pack never leaves your machine. Closing the tab discards everything except the file you downloaded.
Does splitting a 200 page document lower its quality?
No. Each output file receives exact copies of the original pages, with no re-rendering or recompression involved. Text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.
Why is a section missing from my split output?
Usually a typo in the Ranges field. A stray character can make a chunk unparseable, and page numbers outside the document are dropped silently, so 201-210 on a 200 page file yields nothing. Check the page count shown next to the filename and recount your boundaries.
Will internal links survive after a PDF is split apart?
Links that point to pages inside the same output file generally keep working, but links aimed at pages that landed in a different chunk have nowhere to go. Bookmark outlines aren't copied over either. Treat each output as a standalone document.
